Delta came to us from Adirondac Golden Retrievers in Mexico, New York. I was looking for my next obedience partner and also wanted a dog that I could try hunt tests with. With that in mind I contacted Carol at Adirondac to see what her future litter plans were. As luck would have it, there was a litter expected in two weeks. I loved the pedigree, seeing numerous hunt tests and obedience titles throughout. Additionally there were several dogs that I recognized from their working reputations. Delta has proven to be everything I was looking for and more. She is a high drive girl with an excellent work ethic and willingness to please. She is a team player and is excelling in learning competition obedience. To date she has her Beginner Novice title and one leg towards her CD, qualifying every time she has shown. She is trained through almost all of the utility exercises. I expect to complete her CD in short order and start trialing for her CDX title.
Delta’s favorite activity is retrieving. I think her only hinderance is my lack of knowledge and experience related to hunt test training. We are quite a distance from our local retriever training club and haven’t trained as much as I would like. That being said she is a retrieving machine and has no water fear. I am hopeful to participate more this year and look forward to obtaining her WC. If I get my act together, I am confident she can obtain a WCX. Hunt tests are still strongly on my radar and hopefully in the near future we can try that as well.
In the house Delta can be a loving couch potato but does expect a daily game of tug and retrieve. She keeps a schedule on this, and looks forward to it every night. She is a great friend and companion to Banshee and loves visits from our daughters golden, Allie.
Delta will finish her health clearances and obtain her OFA chic number in May.
